PRESCHOOLERS

The preschoolers love to learn and explore their surroundings.
They enjoy "teaching" the infants all that they know!

At Shelley's Child Care home, I focus on providing a safe, healthy and nutritious environment with learning experiences that include many interesting activities.  With the preschoolers, their activities are fun and inviting.  I feel that you can teach a child so much more if you have their interest in the activity.  Children have to want to learn, not be forced to sit in a chair and do an activity.  The preschoolers work with blocks, read, draw, paint, explore outside, and many more activities.  The children enjoy working puzzles and lacing activities.

Our room is laid out in centers, with many educational social enhancing activities.  The children enjoy playing and acting out roles during dramatic play.  During puppet time, they enjoy being the instructor, I encourage this to also work on their language development.

When the children are outside we play music in the background to also work on their language development.  The children love to play and act out the songs!  Our outdoor play area is safe and secured at all times.  The children have a separate play area than Shelley's Child Care home's dogs, a beagle and a daschund.  The children love to laugh and play with the dogs through the fence!

We work on hygiene, and developing their own skills at hand washing, and cleaning up after themselves.  The preschoolers learn to clear their places after mealtime, they learn the responsibility of keeping the learning area free from toys after clean-up, and the children enjoy teaching the infants how to do these things too.

Along with hygiene, at Shelley's Child Care home, we work on potty training!  When the child is developmentally ready, we begin to work on the skills of potty training.  With most children this is a fun adventure for them and they are ready to let their mommies and daddies know what they can do!  Parent's supply pull-up's, training undies, and plastic undies if needed.
